These are links to our favorite wine and travel stuff. May your journey continue...
Beverage Bistro - This is the place for real wine and beer (and travel!) enthusiasts to find truly rare beers and wines. A treasure trove of fine products for the faithful. Here you'll find wines from the winemakers featured in our episodes, plus some of the greatest beers from around the world as chosen by the man himself, Michael Jackson. (If you think he's a pop star this may not be your site.) The Wine Travelers series was born at Beverage Bistro.
The Fun Winery - our good friend, frequent show host, and spiritual leader Alex Dale makes extraordinary wine in South Africa. And if you tuned into our Burgundy or Rhone episodes you'll know why it's called the Fun Winery. Click here to view the future of wine in South Africa.
Tenuta Torciano - Pierluigi Giachi is the star of our pilot and the most entertaining wine maker and educator in Italy. If you're in Tuscany, DO NOT MISS a tasting with Pierluigi at Tenuta Torciano, just outside of San Gimiganano. He is the Wine Traveler Godfather.
Il Vicario - Pierluigi (see above) has a large family of course in and around San Gimignano. His cousin Fulvio owns Il Vicario, a lovely restored villa and our home base in Tuscany. With a pool, views of the towers, and Fulvio's indefatigable sense of humor, this is a great spot to stay.
Detert Family Vineyards - Tom Garrett is the winemaker at Detert Family Vineyards and assistant winemaker for Heidi Peterson Barret at Revana Family Vineyard. He's a family man making killer cabs and the featured winemaker in our Napa: Under the Radar episode. Try his wine. Soon.
Bugay Wines - The above-mentioned Tom Garrett has also joined up with vineyard architect extraordinaire, John Bugay, to present one of the most elegant wine lines in California. French-inspired, mountain-grown on the high volcanic slopes of the Mayacamas in Sonoma, Bugay Wines have a very, very bright future.
